According to an event invitation sent out by Samsung Singapore, the upcoming Galaxy S5 Zoom also known as the Galaxy K will be unveiled on the 29th of April. The invite says “Kapture The Moment”, clearly hinting at a camera-oriented device breaking cover. It is almost confirmed that this handset will be known as the Galaxy K and not the Galaxy S5 Zoom, at least in Singapore. The Galaxy K has even made its way to the FCC for certification recently, confirming that it is stated for release soon and adding more meat to this story. Past rumors had suggested that the Galaxy K or Galaxy S5 Zoom will feature a 4.8 inch 720p Super AMOLED display, a Samsung Exynos 5260 hexa core chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 20.2-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It is said that the camera will come with a 10x optical zoom as well as a Xenon flash, although that part hasn’t been confirmed yet. Judging by the leaked specifications of the Galaxy K, it’s clear that Samsung is following the same strategy as it has done with its predecessors by providing an upgraded camera sensor compared to the Galaxy S5, but packing midrange hardware specifications. Our calendars will be marked for April 29 for the event, and we will be watching out for this new smartphone + camera hybrid.
