It hasn’t been very long since Sony’s latest flagships, the Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Premium, were released, but we are already seeing a rumor that is shedding light on the company’s hero devices for the next year. cnBeta reports that Sony will launch two flagships in 2016, just like it has been doing for the last couple of years. Both these handsets will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820; that is also unsurprising, but what isn’t unsurprising is that these two devices will reportedly feature a metallic back. Quite adept at making waterproof devices, it would be interesting to see how Sony would bring that feature to phones with metallic builds, and whether it will opt for a new visual design along with the change in material. These two handsets are pegged for an announcement in May and September (and availability a month later), with neither of them to feature a 4K screen; the report also says that Sony will not be unveiling any product at CES. Of course, with 2016 yet to begin, all this information should be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt as a lot can change over the coming months.
