The German website teltarif.de, which calls itself the largest German-language mobile telecoms magazine in existence, claims to have some knowledge about the HTC One Mini. They say they spoke to an O2 dealer who can confirm that the device will launch on August 3rd, at least in Germany.
What exactly is the One Mini? It’s a 4.3 inch version of the One. That’s it. Same BoomSound speakers, same UltraPixel camera, though the internals have changed. Rumors say there will be a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 in there, and that the screen will have a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The real question is price. How much will HTC want for this? Ask too much, and people will wonder why they just don’t pony up the extra for the One. Ask too little, and margins are negatively impacted. Personally, I would like to see a 399 EUR price tag, though I doubt that’ll be the case. Also, one more thing to consider is optical image stabilization. The One has it. The recently announced Butterfly s, despite having the same UltraPixel camera, does not. I highly doubt the One Mini has OIS, but I’ll be positively surprised if it does.
