Samsung unveiled its latest generation of flagship smartphones today at its Unpacked 2019 event as well as some new accessories. Although the DCEU is still young, there is no shortage of projects in development over at Warner Bros. There are those that are on the cusp of release like Wonder Woman, some that are about to begin production like Aquaman, projects that can’t seem to get off the ground like The Flash, and those just announced like Nightwing. Back in November, a leak appeared to reveal the upcoming “Galaxy A8s” from Samsung, which would be the company’s first smartphone with the “Infinity-O” cut out in the display. That removes the need for the notch, while also reducing bezels quite a bit at the same time as the front-facing camera is simply placed behind a small, circular cutout in the display. The companion iPhone app for Roku hardware was updated today with a complete visual overhaul that gives the app a brand new look on top of a few new features. In addition to the redesign pictured above, the updated Roku app will also now let you access Roku’s search feature to search for content across apps by movie, show, actor, or director right from an iPhone. Version 3.0 of the Roku app also includes a number of other fixes and enhancements, but the overall navigation of the app remains the same....

In an effort to further compete with the Apple TV, Roku has just updated its iOS app with a new AirPlay-like feature. Last fall, the app was updated with a new “Play on Roku” feature that let you beam music and photos to your TV, and now that feature has been further expanded upon to support videos. The process for videos works just as it does for music and photos. Within the app, tap the Play on Roku button and then the video menu to select something to play....

The New iPad Buyers’ Guide published by iLounge this week included a piece that speculated Apple might be working on a standalone camera product. While the story discussed the possibility of Apple working on a point-and-shoot iSight camera, iLounge clearly labeled it as speculation and simultaneously noted it received a tip claiming Apple is working on the project. It did not feel strongly enough in the source to run the story, but Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge sent out a tweet today noting once again that Apple is working on a standalone camera:...

Samsung’s 2013 flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, is likely going to be the best selling Android smartphone of the year. That being said, some of you don’t like big phones. I used to be one of those people, but then I got a Note II and my world got turned upside-down. As a long time Microsoft beat journalist Paul Thurrott reports, the company will be announcing support for Android apps on Windows Phone platform sometime later this week — I would put my money on the company’s own developer Build 2015 conference which commences later today. If true, this will enable Windows Phone users to try out most of their favorite Android apps — not so sure about Google Mobile Services such as Gmail etc yet — on their Windows-powered smartphone....

The xel X/a>, the company’s first in-house smartphone design, earned a repairability score of 6 out of 10 from iFixit. For one thing, all screws in the devices are Torx T5, iFixit found, which means you’ll only need a single screwdriver to get to work. MacBidouille is the source of an interesting new rumor [translation] that Apple is currently experimenting with new ARM-powered Mac variants that include a Magic trackpad built into the system’s keyboard. The company is also reportedly working on a new version of OS X that will be compatible with these ARM machines. According to MacBidouille’s sources, Apple is developing three new machines with this configuration: the aforementioned iMac and Mac mini as well as a 13″ MacBook, presumably a MacBook Air....

“In Q2, there was a significant slowdown in TV advertising spend due to the macro-economic environment,” Roku announced in prepared remarks in its quarterly shareholder letter. Louden was speaking following a disappointing Q2 earnings report by the company, in which Roku missed revenue estimates for the June quarter by 5% and forecast revenue this quarter ten percent below consensus, and withdrew its revenue forecast for the full year. “What you see is roughly half of consumer TV time is now in streaming,” said Louden, “the advertisers know that’s where the world is moving, but they’re hitting the emergency brake because of uncertainty” in the economy, including prospects of recession....

Various reports and rumors over the past several months have indicated that the iPhone 12 will not include a charging brick or wired EarPods in the box. A new leak today claims to show how Apple will redesign the iPhone 12 packaging to reduce its overall footprint. The leak comes via Concepts iPhone, which says the image is from a “really reliable source.” What appears to be showcased here is that the iPhone 12 will be including a Lightning to USB-C cable wrapped up in the box, with a smaller cutout for the small iPhone booklet and (hopefully) Apple stickers....
